Victorious Vikings!
This was two 10-man crews rowing an open longboat 50 meters out
from the harbour wall to a marker bouy, then a quick turn and a
sprint back to the wall.
Under Gareth's precise instructions (push, pull, in, out - no foreplay
or anything) we won our heat and were the 3rd fastest of 20 teams
after 1 race.
Our next race was the second semi final which we again won easily
by some 30 seconds.
With just 15 minutes to recover, get a roll-up and stretch off
the forearms, we met the winners from 2003/4/5 in the final, an
experienced rowing team from the Isle of Man.
Harley brute force gave us a good start, we picked up a lead and
kept a nose and a bit ahead on the first leg.
An excellent turn around the marker buoy meant we were a boat length
ahead on the start of the way back.
About 25 metres out, fatigue and burning shoulders meant we lost
some momentum which we just couldn't regain, and gradually the
experienced IoM team began to gain water on us.
In an exciting sprint finish, they just pipped us by half a boat
length at the post.
again another great season of ride

We are pleased to announce that on Sunday the 4th of March 2007
Provincewide HOG Chapter officially presented a Cheque for £2,276.18
to the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice. The Children’s
Hospice was the organisation selected to receive club charity funds
raised in 2006.
The Children’s Hospice has extended their thanks to all involved
and greatly appreciates our donation.

Events
The chapters nominated charity are arranging
the following charity events:
Hospice Coffee Morning will be held on Thursday the 15th of September.
Organise a coffee morning in the office. For an Information packs
are available from the Fundraising Office on 028 90778898.
Absail Down Scrabo Tower will be on the 1st of October for those who
wish to test their fears in this magnificent setting and raise money
for Northern Ireland Hospice Care. For those people interested please
contact Katie on 028 90 778898 for an application form and more information.
A Corporate Golf day will be held in aid of the Northern Ireland Hospice
Care on Monday 3rd of October at Malone Gold Club. It is £400

Ladies of Harley at the Kings Hall Bike Show
Friday 26th November - Sunday 28th November
The Ladies of Harley recently took a stand at the Bike Show at the
King's Hall, Belfast, to sell their 2005 calenders. Thanks to all
who helped out at the show, and a special thanks to Jackie who tended
the stand everyday of the show.
